30A Songwriters Festival: Looking Back

For the last three days Traci and I were in Seaside, FL, for the 30A Songwriters Festival.  We arrived Friday evening with a group of friends, got our wristbands and quickly got in line at our first venue.  Because the songwriters mostly play in small venues (restaurants and bars), you have to plan out who you want to see and get there early!  It creates a lot of excitement and intimacy.  In addition to the smaller venues, there are outdoor concerts on Saturday and Sunday where everyone brings chairs and just chills out listening to some great tunes.  The whole weekend was incredible, and I could go on and on, but instead, here are some highlights: Rodney Crowell on Friday night; Jason Isbell Saturday at Gulf Place; Zac Brown making a surprise appearance and sitting in with John Driskell HopkinsIndigo Girls and Graham Nash Sunday at Gulf Place; Jason Isbell playing a private show at Grayton Beer Tap Room(check back tomorrow for more about that).
