It’s that refreshing time of year when the flowers are starting to emerge, the days are getting longer and the sun is getting warmer. All the hope of spring is here, and lazy days spent on the boat or on the beach are right around the corner. The excitement would really be too much to bare if it were not tempered with one of the most dreaded, most reviled things to happen in fashion...bathing suit shopping! Could there be anything more unattractive than pale white skin under florescent lights? Seriously, why? I prefer to sit in the safety and security of my living room basking in the glow of my laptop and peruse the swimsuit sections of places like shopbop and Neimans and J.Crew where the bathing suits look fabulous and my imagination has me looking fabulous in them.
Even before I had three children, I had sworn off two pieces. I’m short-waisted, which doesn’t leave much room between the top and the bottom anyway, and what is there, is not the part of my body that I like to advertise. I know my strengths, and my stomach is not one of them. I love all the interesting styles and cuts of a one piece suit, and I have learned what works for me and what doesn’t. Plus, it doesn't hurt to leave a little to the imagination sometimes instead of putting everything on display. That being said, I’m really drawn to the high-waisted bikini bottoms, and I’m thinking about giving them a try. Stay tuned for that one!
Here are some of my favorites I found for this season. I hoping next week at the beach will even out my tennis tan. I remember as a kid thinking how bad the ladies looked with the pathetically white upper thighs and seriously brown lower legs, and now that’s me. Yay to being an adult!
