This past weekend was our church's annual retreat at Blue Lake in Andalusia, Alabama. This was our third year to attend and maybe the best so far. The children have a blast and go non stop the entire weekend. The property is beautiful and the weather was perfect. The guest speaker, Reverend Doctor L. Roger Owens did not disappoint. I really enjoyed listening to him and his unique perspective on Christian spirituality.
There are so many activities at Blue Lake. We roasted marshmellows, carved pumpkins, canoed, play tug of war, and I was even able to sneak away for run Saturday morning. Saturday night revolved around the FSU v. Notre Dame football game. The many FSU fans were glued to the flat screens in the lodge. They missed out on the adorable pajama parade put on by the children. The parade ended on the back patio where all of the carved pumpkins were lit.
The weekend concluded with a lakeside service this morning. It was beautiful. We enjoyed being with dear friends old and new! I have to admit it is nice to be back in my own home feeling renewed and thankful for my many blessings (cozy soft bed included).

ReplyDeleteIt was so fun! I used to camp a lot when I was just out of college but don't do it very often now. The weather is perfect for it this time of year.
