Honey Island Swamp Band

The Honey Island Swamp Band played at Vinyl Music Hall last night.  I love listening to this band and their unique sound.  This group of five has some serious musical and songwriting talent.  The band leader, Aaron Wilkinson, (guitar, mandolin, harmonica, and vocals) has been a friend of mine since elementary school. Aaron excelled in school and athletics all the while pursuing his love of music and songwriting.  After college, Aaron moved to New Orleans to pursue his passion. He toured with several New Orleans artists and The Eric Lindell Band. The band members met in San Francisco at the Boom Boom Room after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.  Check out their albums on iTunes.  I promise, you will not regret it.

“The Honey Island Swamp is a real place. It resides near the border of Louisiana and Mississippi. It’s therefore a fitting name for this band that draws inspiration from the music of those two states. With the Honey Island Swamp Band, soul, country, R&B and blues are all on equal footing. The two man songwriting/guitarist team of Chris MulĂ© and Aaron Wilkinson produce expressive, hook-laden tunes that honor songcraftwhile respecting the groove.” Jambase.com
