Shrimp Scampi: Giovanni's v. Ina

Martinis & Bikinis

Food truck
Giovanni's Shrimp Scampi

I heard about Giovanni's Shrimp Truck before we went to Hawaii.  In 1993, Giovanni's opened in a converted bread truck and used to travel around the island selling delicious shrimp to locals. These days, due to worldwide popularity, there is a long line but it is worth the wait.  Shrimp Scampi is the most popular dish but spicy shrimp and lemon butter shrimp are also award winning and on the menu. We made a trip to Giovanni's and it did not disappoint! Delicious!

Now that we are home, i'm kind of craving something similar to Giovanni's.  Ina Garten is my go to so I pulled out her cookbooks and started looking for her shrimp scampi recipe.  I found it in Back to Basics.  Guess what's on the menu for Tuesday night? I will let you know the verdict of our taste test.

My cute niece just after she asked, "Aunt Traci, why do you take pictures of EVERYTHING you eat?"

  1. Oh yum!! That's a good looking food truck. I love the combo of foods: scampi, shaved ice... haha! I also love your niece's comment - so true, right?? :)

    1. It was so delicious! I love food trucks too. We have several in downtown Pensacola that are relatively new and really popular.

  4. Yuumm! I made a lemon butter shrimp recipe not too long ago, but now I might need to try Ina's version. Her stuff is always the best!
