A Perfect Friday in NYC

Friday morning, we caught the 8:30 train from Bronxville into the city.  E was dying for me to try Soul Cycle.  I was eagerly anticipating a new workout experience but also kind of nervous.  We were booked for Rique's 10:30 class.  I was told that he has quite a reputation and that his classes fill up within minutes every Monday.  A kind Soul Cycle employee helped me set up my bike and clip into the pedals.  The lights went out except for one candle in the front of the room and the music blasted through the speakers.  The workout was every bit as challenging as I had expected.  Thank goodness for being on the back row and under the cover of darkness!  We really wanted to snap a picture with Rique but by the time I got my shoes unclipped from the pedals (no easy feat) it was too late.  We showered and headed to Tiny's for lunch.  We definitely earned that meal and then some...

Lunch was followed by shopping in Soho.  Once the shopping excitement faded, we headed to Balthazar for wine and cheese.  We could not have timed this any better because, just as we were seated, the sky opened up and poured rain for at least an hour.  From Balthazar, we walked to The Rose Bar at the Gramercy Park Hotel.  The lobby and bar are insanely gorgeous filled with an amazing art collection, beautiful lighting and furnishings.  All of the tables are reserved after 8pm which did not matter because we were leaving anyway for dinner at ABC Kitchen.  Check back tomorrow for deets on that delicious meal.  It was such a great experience that I decided it deserves its own post.

Rique's Soul Cycle class was an awesome way to start the day!

    1. I know, right!?! You have to go to the very front and squeeze down the aisle until you get to your bike. I almost hit the lady next to me when we did the arm weights!

  5. This sounds like the perfect day! I love fitting in a workout so you can really enjoy all the good food. :) I didn't make it to Soho while I was in NY and I was so sad.
