30A Songwriters Festival: Looking Forward

Songwriters Festival 2014
This time of year, when the tourists have left the beaches deserted and the cold, damp air coming off the gulf can chill you to the bone, the little towns up and down county road 30A are bustling with music lovers!  For six years running, the 30A Songwriters Festival has been gaining momentum, and I think this one is going to be the best yet.  If you've been following this blog, you are probably aware of my obsession with Jason Isbell.  Back in October, I talked Scott into taking me up to Nashville to see him play at the Ryman.  On the drive up, we listened to his most-recent album, Southeastern, and by the drive home, Scott was a fan!  With that in mind, you can imagine my excitement when I saw his name on the bill for this year's festival!  His music is hauntingly real and melodically captivating.  The lyrics are wise - drawing you in so that you are not just listening to the song but you are in the middle of it.  If you are not familiar with his music, I encourage you to click on the video below.  You just might become a fan, too!
