I went to a doctor's appointment on the 3rd, and for several reasons my doctor wanted to schedule an inducement. Since I'm sure he planned to spend the holiday with his family, he told me to check in at midnight on the night of 4th so that I would deliver on the 5th. My due date was 07/07/07, and the card player in Scott was a little bummed that our baby boy would not have that lucky birthday. He kept saying how sad it was to be due on 7/7/7 only to be born the day AFTER the 4th of July. Scott (like most men, I'm assuming) didn't really understand that when you're nine months pregnant any day will work, preferably today!
To Scott's (and my) surprise and delight, I went into labor on my own in the early morning hours of the 4th of July, and our bundle of joy made his appearance at 12:09 pm! For the rest of his life, his birthday will be full of parades and fireworks and celebrations across our great nation. Somehow, if you know Hudson, that seems fitting! Happy 4th of July!

DeleteHappy birthday to your sweet boy! My husband's birthday is on Christmas. I guess it's a bit of a blessing and a curse to have a holiday birthday. Fun reading his story!

Thanks, Amy Ann! Holiday birthdays are a mixed blessing, though I think Christmas might be harder than the 4th. Cheers, E

Thanks! Hudson has finally figured out that the fireworks are not for him. If you're going to have a birthday on a holiday, I think the 4th might be the best! Cheers, E
