Branching Out

Not too long ago our hometown of Pensacola, Florida, was a sleepy little town with beautiful beaches but not much else to offer.  Our shops and restaurants were mostly boring chains.  Our nightlife was limited.  Our downtown was seriously lacking in energy and vitality.  Fortunately, all that has changed.  We're still a pretty small town, but the revitalization we are experiencing is contagious, and it seems like everyone is excited to a party of pushing Pensacola forward.

To do our part, Traci and I have been exploring Pensacola in search of everything from the best burger to the hottest jeans to the freshest produce, and we've been sharing our findings on a local, online news outlet called Pensacola Today.  It's been a lot of fun to exercise our writing chops and even more fun to do the research!

Farm Fresh: Keeping It Local

Slow food, farm fresh, farm to table...  whatever you call it, the movement to bring local produce, meats and dairy has roots in Pensacola.  Last weekend, Traci and I spent some time strolling the corridor of the Palafox Market, which takes place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  We were overwhelmed by the colorful fresh fruits and vegetables.  We were captivated by the variety of meats from chicken to beef to pork.  We were tempted by the thick, golden honey that seemed to be everywhere we looked, and we enjoyed every sample of delicious breads, jams, salsas, dips and spreads that we tasted.  READ MORE
